Owners: Barry & Barb, Hailey, ID
Engine: Late model 302 with GT-40P heads, Ford Racing E-303 roller cam, Autolite 4100 carb, Pertronix II ignition, Hi-Po cast iron exhaust manifolds, 2-1/4" exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, factory cobra dress up kit (valve covers and air cleaner). Engine was built to look exactly like stock original 289 4V engine.
Drivetrain: Transmission is a Borg Warner T-5 five speed with Hurst billet plus shifter and cable actuated Cobra clutch. Rear end is Ford 8" with 3.25:1 gearing. Brakes were converted to Power front discs (SSBC) and rebuilt stock drums in the rear. Boyd Coddington "smoothie" wheels with custom backspace.
Suspension: Shelby spec front upper control arm relocation, 1" front sway bar, Progressive rate front coil springs, Eaton GT spec rear leaf springs, KYB-GR 2 shock absorbers. One piece "export brace" and Monte Carlo bar. Converted the steering to stock style power steering with new Flaming River 16:1 steering box.
Misc: The paint color is the original metallic Ivy Green with the original "Palomino" color in the interior. Body modifications are all stock parts to build it as a "GT" clone including fog lights and through the valance exhaust. Original wood st eering wheel. Original "Rally Pak" tachometer and clock set. Custom Autosound stereo, kick panel speakers, power antenna and XM satellite radio. Power convertible top. 3 point seat belt sets.
History: The car was Barry's first ever Ebay purchase. Purchased in Phoenix, AZ the car had been moved there many years prior from the Northeast US. The previous "restorer" did a tremendous job of hiding massive amounts of rust and body cancer with HVAC sheet metal, pop rivets, bondo and undercoating. Two years were spent cutting the car apart and replacing most of the metal. The only original parts still on the car are the trunk lid, hood and two front fenders. Everything else is new metal with no bondo anywhere in the car. The car was built to look stock (with exceptio n of the custom wheels) but is modified safety and comfort. This car was built to be driven and we have enjoyed taking it on several lengthy trips.
