HISTORY
This car was originally assembled on May 25, 1967 in San Jose, California.
The original car was a standard interior coupe with a "C" code 289 2V engine. It was assembled with a nice assortment options including power disc brakes, electric clock, power steering, center console, deluxe seat belts, and styled steel wheels.
The car was shipped to Seattle to Smith-Gandy Motors where it was sold to Dr. H. J. Schroeder. The original sticker price was $3376.34.
Bill purchased the car from Theisen Motors in Twin Falls, Idaho on June 9, 1972 for $1495. At that time, it had approximately 42,000 miles on it. We believe we are the second owners.
For the next 25 years, this car saw service as a daily driver, ranging from college days to basic family transportation, eventually racking up 235,000 miles before it was retired in 1992 to await its "Second Coming". During that time the only significant maintenance required was a valve job and replacement of the original C4 transmission. In 1981, the original "Nightmist Blue" was repainted with "Brittany Blue" and the interior was freshened up a bit.
A total "Frame-up" restoration was begun in March of 2003 and completed in June of 2004. The car has been restored as a GTA with a deluxe interior plus many other original factory options were added during the restoration process. Significant contributions to the restoration were provided by Copperhead Racing, Mulder's Auto Machine Shop, and Classics by Jaggers all of Boise, Idaho.
RESTORATION SUMMARY
The car was completely stripped and disassembled and virtually every part was rebuilt, restored or replaced, as required. The restoration can best be described as a "light Restomod clone". Considerable attention to detail and authenticity has been paid in the areas of high visibility, particularly the interior. Since this car is intended to be driven fairly often, some modifications have been made where it makes sense such as to the engine, suspension, air conditioning, and audio system. Although lightly modified, we have tried to stay true to the Ford "look and feel" of the era and, except for some minor "Concourse level" paint detailing in the engine compartment and under chassis, the car is very representative of what it might have looked like rolling of the assembly line those many years ago.
