Kenny's 1990 Limited Edition LX 7-Up Mustang

TVMFC member Kenny is part of a family of Ford fans that keeps several Mustangs in the stable. Kenny's car is unique and eye-catching, a 1990 Limited Edition LX 7-Up Mustang. In 1990 7-Up was going to give away 30 limited edition Mustangs to anyone who could sink a half court shot at the NCAA basketball tournament. At the last minute 7-Up pulled out of the deal and decided not to give away the cars. Ford was excited about the color combination and decided to go ahead with production of a limited number of 7-Up ponies. The convertibles all started out as coupes and had the hardtop removed prior to shipment to Cars & Concepts of Brighton, MI. The plan was to build 5,000 cars but they stopped after 4,103, of which 1360 were 5-speeds and 2,743 were automatics. 261 cars were exported.

The 1990 Limited Edition LX Convertible has some features which differentiate it from other Mustang models. These features include deep emerald green metallic clearcoat paint (code PA), Color-keyed body side moldings, fascia moldings and side view mirrors, white leather interior, white convertible top, and 15" GT aluminum wheels.

All 7-Up cars came with the 225 horsepower 5.0 EFI engines. Standard equipment included: 5-speed manual overdrive transmission, handling suspension, power brakes, P225/60VR15 performance tires, luggage rack, power lock group, tinted glass, leather-wrapped steering wheel, interval windshield wipers, articulated sports seats, light group, white interior trim, EEC-IV computerized engine controls, power rack & pinion steering w/15:1 ratio, traction-lock axle, power convertible top, 15 X 7" cast aluminum wheels, Aero halogen headlamps, dual electric remote mirrors, electronic AM/FM stereo radio with clock, power windows, deep emerald green C/C, and heavy duty battery.

Optional Equipment on the 7-Up car included automatic O/D transmission and engine block immersion heater.

Of course Kenny's loaded ride is an automatic. Since acquiring this exceptional pony, Kenny has added a few extras, including 16x8 Cobra R rims, Flowmaster Cat Back exhaust system, Performance Tires, Cobra Racing white faced gauges, K&N air filter, new convertible top tinted windows and Pioneer CD player with 10" Subs. Very cool Kenny! Thanks for sharing your effervescent pony.
